A good quality French Louis XVI style fireplace in Breche Violette marble. The scrolled, stop-fluted jambs adorned with acanthus leaf ormolu, surmounted by rectangular ormolu paterae and beading. The panelled, shaped frieze with with ormolu beading throughout and swags to centre block. Moulded shelf above. A substantial piece in good quality Breccia. French, 19th century.
